An Invite to Paradise

Its nearly December, and we are counting the days for our annual Christmas homecoming.  We are fortunate to go home every year to paradise.  I am not joking.  We are from Palawan.  Yup, that island that always features in among the world’s best beaches.  It is even more special for us because we get to be with our loved ones, on Christmas, in paradise!  What more can we ask for.

Perhaps most popular is El Nido with its white sand beaches, limestone cliffs and sun all year round!

The gateway to El Nido is Puerto Princesa City, the capital of Palawan.  This is were our  families live and where we spend our Christmas holidays.  Puerto Princesa itself has a lot to offer.  It is still the cleanest and greenest city in the Philippines.  Although there has been a lot of infrastructure development in the past 15 years or so, the city, for me is still a quiet haven.  For some reason I never use my mobile phone nor check in the internet when I am on holiday in Palawan.  I find time to read a book, or just even sit around the whole afternoon refilling my cup of coffee.  It’s as if I am never in a hurry and I have all the time in the world when I am in Palawan.

Sleeping in a hammock all day or kite surfing:  your choice!

Some of the places one can visit in Puerto Princesa city itself include:

BM beach
butterfly garden
Baker’s hill – fun for families
beach bumming at Honda Bay
one of the islands in Honda Bay

I would also have to mention the abundance of seafood! And its cheap too!

So what are you waiting for! Plan that next holiday. If you prefer to live in an apartment-style budget accommodation, where you can prepare your own food and have a longer holiday (because it’s so cheap) then you can perhaps consider Puerto Apartments (Joel and I started up this small family business 6 years ago and as travelers ourselves, the most important for us is to have a clean, safe place to rest after a long day out. And that’s been the priority in Puerto Apartments, now being managed by my parents.  They can also help with tour arrangements – to El Nido, to Honda Bay, to the Underground River, etc., at a discount of course!)

Depending on which time of the year you come, you may be lucky to have a taste of our own fruit produce (mangoes, papayas and bananas).  In any case, there is a fruit stand just next to us so you can have your daily tropical fruit fix.  Have you made up your mind yet?  See you in paradise this Christmas!
